A one-night stand is a single sexual encounter between individuals, where at least one of the parties have no intention or expectation of establishing a longer-term sexual or romantic relationship. The individuals participating in a one-night stand typically have not known each other long and have had minimal time to get to know each other before engaging in the sexual activity. A one-night sexual encounter is not necessarily always a one-night stand; the crucial distinction is the expectation or intention that the relationship will not necessarily be extended beyond their initial sexual encounter. A one-night stand is differentiated from prostitution, as it takes place without money or without any coercion.

A one-night stand can be thought of as an irregular and unplanned sexual encounter between the individuals. The participants will usually have little or no contact with one another aside from having sex. Thus it is possible to have multiple one-night stands with the same person, provided that there is no regularity to the encounters or planning involved in the encounters. However, where the people involved who have a regular sexual relationship without romantic involvement, this is generally considered a casual relationship and is generally considered distinct from the one-night stand phenomenon.

In the Western society, there is often a social stigma associated with one-night stands, reflected in the phrase "walk of shame", wherein a participant in a one-night stand has to go home in the morning wearing clothes that were worn the previous night. As the name implies, the relationship only "stands", or exists, for only one night.

There are many men who equate quality with good looks and for some men this equation is perfectly acceptable. If all you are eagerly looking for is a one-night stand or a very casual relationship with no strings attached, then it is perfectly acceptable to base the quality of your women just on her looks.

Many women who have been emotionally or physically abused in the past do a great job of hiding it at the beginning of the relationship. In fact, part of the reason you may have been attached to her in the first place is because she was able to reveal many aspects of her life that made you feel sorry for her and you want to protect her.

In the beginning, this worked out great for you, she felt protected and loved and in turn had great sex with you, perhaps even before she had any feelings for you. However, once comfortable in the relationship and secure in the knowledge that you are not going anywhere she turns cold and the great sex you used to have is no longer and you hardly get any if at all. The other option is to simply to leave and be with a woman who is ready to show you the kind of Love that you deserve and want.

Once you realize that you can have very beautiful women in your life and even though the beginning of this relationship was great, it is in the past and its time to move on to create more great memories with other women and hopefully one day one of them will stick and you will suddenly find yourself living in a Heaven on Earth.
